Gurongi Language is the language spoken by the Gurongi race in Kamen Rider Kuuga, mainly spoken verbally. During Kuuga's original run, every line spoken in the Gurongi's native language was left unsubtitled, without any hints as to what exactly they were talking about; as a result, fan sites attempted to decipher the language with success. The main mysteries in early parts of the series include the reason for the Gurongi's attacks and why they escape without resistance. In their native-language lines, the Gurongi actually address all of those mysteries even in those early episodes, which is why their dialogue was left unsubtitled, when the Gurongi reappeared in Kamen Rider Decade, the Gurongi dialogue was subtitled in Japanese.
Being a cipher of the Japanese language, Gurongi basically uses the consonants of that language. However, there are instances where one Gurongi syllable could mean any of several Japanese syllables, so reverse translation through context is required.
Example:
- [Koroshiteyaru (I'll kill you)] => [Bosogidejasu], [inochibiroishitana (what a narrow escape)] => [Gibozizisogigidaba]
Example:
- [omae no nioi ga [[[Linto]]] domo wo sasottanoda (you smell of [Linto])] => [goragen bigogigu [rinto]zorozo gagodadaboza]
Mostly the same as in Japanese. However, for cases where a special single character has strong significance, such single characters are transferred to the end of the sentence, turning it "upside down".
Example:
- [Kore wa [-Kuuga-] no beruto (This is [Kuuga's] belt!)] => [Kore wa beruto no [Kuuga] (This is the belt of [kuuga]!)] => [Bosebadesudon [Kuuga]!]
In the middle of the series most of the Gurongi are capable of speaking Japanese; when they are using Japanese in conversation, they still continue to use Gurongi on some single words. Such single words are related to the killing game.
- [-Linto-] : Humans - they are the descendants of the Linto
- [-Gegeru-] : Game (Geemu)
- [-Gerizagibasu Gegeru-] : Semifinal Game (Semifainaru Geemu)
- [-Guseba-] : Bracelet (udewa) - records the victims in the Gegeru of the Zu and Me clan.
- [-Bagundaga-] : Counter (Kauntaa) - abacus type of tools that records the victims of the gegeru
- [-Zagibasu Gegeru-] : Final Game (Fainaru Geemu)
The numeric scale the Gurongi use has 9 numbers. Anything beyond 10 uses an accompanying numeral, additionally calculated using the conjunction [do] and subtracted using the conjunction [gu]. The language only uses additional (+) and multiplying (X) operations; subtraction (-) and division (÷) do not exist. Every numeral figure uses the English numeral.
